The optile Merchant Forum 2019

 June 17th, 2019

On May 21-22 we welcomed our customers to the first optile Merchant Forum. Under the motto “Exchange. Engage. Inspire.”, we discussed current important payment topics, such as PSD2, data protection or user experience and also presented optile’s new product features and product roadmap.

Main highlights of the event: Day 1

The event started off with a warm welcome from our CEO, Daniel Smeds and an introduction to our Customer Strategy experts who help our customers get maximum value from their collaboration with optile.

Tal Sela, Product Management Lead, continued and presented our newly launched BIN rules feature – a post-routing functionality that aims to drive card acceptance rates and decrease the amount of declines.

Afterwards, Christopher Götz, LL.M, Partner at Simmons & Simmons LLP, gave an insightful presentation on one of the key industry topics: data protection under the GDPR. He explained how e-commerce companies can comply and react to data breaches.

To conclude the first day of the Merchant Forum, we invited our guests to a joined dinner to network and have some lighthearted fun.

Main highlights of the event: Day 2

Daniel Lee, Head of Payment at Kingfisher PLC, opened the second day of the Merchant Forum by giving a speech about the impact of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) on user experience. He addressed the challenge of strong authentication methods potentially scaring off customers for being too cumbersome to complete and explained how to tackle this problem.

While talking about the best practices for a perfect payment experience is important, one goal of the Merchant Forum was also to give our customers better insight into optile. Sebastian Kraiker, VP of Product Management, presented optile’s product roadmap for 2019, showing what is currently being worked on and our plans for the near future. Striving to serve our customers best, we also asked them for their direct feedback.

Coming back to security: Jonas Maurus, CTO at optile, and Danila Turuntaev, optile’s Product Manager, talked in-depth about the impact of PSD2 and how it affects businesses. They explained how optile is adapting to the current change by showing our next steps and giving an overview of the current status quo.

Viktorija Gileva and Jan-Patrick Mainka, both Senior Sales Managers, talked about how High-Risk businesses can leverage optile’s technology, which led to a great discussion round with our merchants. Hazar Al Asadi, Head of Project Management & Onboarding, and Julian Schott, Project Management Lead, explained how Retail Businesses can scale faster and deliver a supreme customer experience with the help of optile.

The last four sessions were presented by Jonas Maurus, Tal Sela, Cholpon Degenbaeva, Product Manager at optile, and Daniel Smeds. The sessions covered updates to the following optile products:

  • Elastic Cloud Infrastructure – a technology that allows for maximum service availability and cloud orchestration by hosting optile’s services near customer’s own infrastructure.
  • Risk Management – an advanced fraud prevention technology for power users, to easily operate within their risk environment by individually creating, adapting, and extending risk rules and conditions.
  • My Dashboard – an application that presents all the important payment data at a glance and allows for personalized tracking of payment flows, giving a holistic overview on the payment performance in real time.
  • optile X – a modular solution for platforms to create their own open payment ecosystem, establishing barrier-free payment communication between multiple businesses, suppliers, and end-customers.

Between those sessions we made sure to allow time for networking, questions, and knowledge exchange between our guests and also with the optile crew.
